Nihonbashi Club Wins Design Award

Tokyo American Club Nihonbashi has won a prestigious Good Design Award for its interior concept.

The panel of architect judges praised the use of design features like the Club's pitched, walnut ceiling, lighting and carpeting to create a "large home" ambience.

The Club, which opened in March this year, was designed by local architect and Nihonbashi Club Member Daishi Yoshimoto.

"[The award] is very rewarding as a designer, but I see this as the result of a collective effort by many individuals," Yoshimoto says. "I congratulate the entire Club community for this recognition."

Yoshimoto, who worked on the project in collaboration with the TAC Nihonbashi Task Force and Club management, discussed the design of the Club's first-ever satellite hub during a recent TAC Talk.

Japan's Good Design Award program, which was established in 1957, highlights exemplary design in a range of areas, from architecture and furniture to technology and packaging.
