Kickboxing (Winter-Spring)

The class is designed for students to learn basic muay Thai martial arts techniques in a safe and enjoyable environment.


What will I learn in this class?

Students to learn basic muay thai martial arts techniques in a safe and enjoyable environment. Skills  include stance, footwork, punching, kicking and defense. Students practice combinations individually and with partners. The second half of the class emphasizes circuit training, conditioning exercises, pad kicking and punching drills and defensive partner work.

What are the benefits of this class?
Students improve their fitness level while learning a method of self-defense. There is no sparring, eliminating much of the risk of injury. The class includes solo drills, where individuals are able to push themselves, and partner drills, which help students develop mutual respect and camaraderie. Students also improve balance and coordination while increasing flexibility, strength and endurance.

Who teaches the class?
Robert Daoust began teaching children and teens martial arts in Montreal, Canada, more than 20 years ago. He has trained in judo, kyokushin karate, daido juku and muay thai. He travels regularly to Thailand to continue his training in both modern muay thai and old style muay chaiya. Combined with his experience as a personal trainer, Daoust offers individual guidance to students of varying abilities in the same class.
