Culture Connections

Experience the art of Japanese incense with Eriyo Watanabe.

With 20 years of experience, Watanabe is a master of traditional incense ceremonies and incense making. She is renowned for her unique fermented incense and has studied at the Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London and Lesley University in Massachusetts.

In this session, Watanabe will demonstrate the basics of incense use and go into more advanced techniques while highlighting the cultural significance of the lotus in Japan.

The monthly Culture Connections events often feature a guest speaker. Previous presentations have covered such topics as mental health and the Japanese art of bonsai.
