The Club celebrates the Japanese tradition of New Year cards with a display of nengajo belonging to the late Frederick Harris.
A self-proclaimed "cultural ambassador", Harris was an artist and former president of the Club.
His list of achievements includes creating a commemorative stamp honoring US-Japan relations and a stint as an Asia consultant at the US Library of Congress.
Over several decades, he exchanged New Year's greetings with a number of fellow artists, amassing a collection that pays homage to one of Japan’s oldest oshogatsu customs, dating back to the Heian period.
The New Year’s cards from Harris’ personal collection were previously on display at the Club’s old Genkan Gallery 20 years ago.
Meanwhile, the B1 exhibition space features a selection of Tolman Collection-curated prints.
