What will the students learn in this class?
These classes are built around SAT dates for the school year, beginning with the October SAT. There are both English and math courses for each test date—students can choose to do either the English class, the math class or both!
Our SAT Math and English: Foundational Skills group classes are designed for students to learn and hone their fundamental math, reading and writing skills, which are essential for success. In this class, students study fundamental materials and concepts, learning the best strategies to quickly and efficiently tackle a wide range of problems on the Digital SAT.

In every session, instructors work through official SAT questions and outline strategies to ensure speed and accuracy. Students complete mock tests using Bluebook, the test delivery platform for the Digital SAT.
Students should expect extensive practice on each topic and around two hours of homework per class hour.
Who Can Join?
This class is ideal for high school students who are just beginning their SAT studies or are currently scoring below 650 in the English or math portions of the official SAT, a mock SAT or their PSAT.
What are the benefits of this class?
This class gives students who have never studied for the SAT, or who are scoring below 650, a solid head start on their journey to a high score, which increases their chances of being accepted to a top university. They not only learn the skills needed to do well on the SAT, but also the necessary strategies for each question type they will encounter on the official SAT. Students learn from seasoned SAT tutors with proven track records of success.
Who will teach this class?
Andrew Urabe is one of Tokyo Academics’ top SAT tutors, with over 300 hours of SAT tutoring in both private and small group class settings under his belt. As a student, he scored within the 99th percentile for both the ACT and SAT. Andrew holds two degrees from the University of Michigan: a bachelor’s degree in Asian studies with a concentration in Japanese studies and a master’s degree in management from the Ross School of Business. Andrew was named an AP Scholar, having earned top scores in a variety of subjects, including calculus BC, world and US history, biology and environmental science.
