Culture Connections

Unlock the secrets behind the fast-paced game of mahjong, guided by Connections president Jill Tattle.

A dedicated player with seven years under her belt, she is an expert at this Chinese tile-based game of skill, strategy and luck that dates to the 19th century.

Mahjong is now played around the world, and each country brings its unique twist to the game. Over the years, Tattle has mastered various variants.

Eager to share the rich history behind the tiles, she will give Members a hands-on experience of the different gameplay variations, which they can try out for themselves at Mahjong Wednesdays.

The monthly Culture Connections events often feature a guest speaker. Previous presentations have covered such topics as mental health and the Japanese art of bonsai.
