Bamboo Basket Making

Craft your woven basket from strips of freshly cut bamboo.

During this workshop at the Club, students learn about bamboo, how it is grown and its traditional uses in Japan before trying their hand at applying a hexagonal weaving technique to fashion a practical piece of art.

Instructor
Yukino Enjoji began looking after a bamboo grove about three years ago. As she learned more about the malleable and sustainable resource, she launched her own bamboo basket- and lantern-making classes. She teaches in English and Japanese. Explore her works on her Instagram page.
