In Yuxing Li’s paintings, inks are never purely black and the touches of silvers and pastels exude a spirit he hopes any audience can detect.
Traditional in subject matter but uncommon in its expression, Li’s exhibition, “When Ink Meets Silver,” opens at the Frederick Harris Gallery on February 26.
Wisteria branches hang over a gabled roof and a bright parasol leans against a stone lantern in Li’s collection of paintings that the artist says expresses the pathos of worldly objects “beyond their physical characteristics.”
“When Ink Meets Silver” runs through March 18.
