Fun is central to Takehiko Okuda’s upcoming ceramics exhibition at the Frederick Harris Gallery.
It’s unmistakable in the intriguingly designed, pastel-colored works he produces. And his show at the Club will feature his very latest creations.
Personal challenges and self-discovery have long been a motivation for the Tokyo-born artist and his beguiling works reflect his desire to push himself.
On completing a master’s in ceramics at Tokyo University of the Arts in 1990, Okuda launched his first exhibition at Mitsukoshi department store in Nihonbashi.
Finding artistic inspiration while going about everyday life, Okuda hopes his pieces provoke and stimulate.
“My ideal is to be true to myself and to express that trueness,” he says.
