Gallery Reception: Nami Kozu-Satow

Nami Kozu-Satow is a believer in the healing power of art.

The abstract painter has displayed her vibrant works at a number of hospitals in Japan, with the hope that they can help both patients and staff find “serenity and respite.”

“My aspiration is…to provide peace and tranquility to those who wish to rejuvenate their senses by entering a world filled with vivid colors and shifting light,” says Kozu-Satow.

The former professional tennis player and NHK sports show anchor was inspired to pick up a brush after a stint as an art producer at Galerie Lelong in Paris.

Since then, her “Lightscape” pieces have graced the walls of Tokyo’s most prestigious galleries, as well numerous hospitals, hotels and private homes.

“Every color, every hue has its own vibration, temperature, sound, fragrance and texture.

They speak to our five senses and awaken our sixth,” she says.

“They also determine how we heal ourselves from within.”
