At this January TAC Talk, veteran public speaker and trainer Greg Story shares his top tips for engaging an audience and getting your message across.
In the world of mobile devices, this can be easier said than done.
“We are presenting in the age of distraction,” says Club Member Story. “Your opening is competing with the mobile phone and an escape route to the Internet. If you don’t have the audience’s interest in the first few seconds, you’ve lost them.”
At what will be his 543rd time in front of an audience, Story, who is president of Dale Carnegie Training Japan and the author of Japan Sales Mastery, will explain the presentation pitfalls to avoid while revealing the secrets of a good speech or presentation.
“People think it’s about them and what they want to say,” he says. “In fact, it’s about the audience and what they want to hear.”
