Nokogiriyama Hike

Hike to a sprawling Buddhist temple site cut into sheer cliffs in southern Chiba Prefecture.

On this Connections-sponsored tour, travel from the Club by bus to one of the Kanto region’s most scenic points. After a ropeway ride partway up Mount Nokogiriyama, marvel at a 31-meter depiction of the Buddha hewn from solid rock as well as thousands of smaller figures dotted across the mountainside.

Near the mountain’s peak, visit another 30-meter carving of the goddess Kannon, worshipped here as a protector of transportation
, while taking in the sweeping views of Tokyo Bay beyond.

This tour runs rain or shine. Attendees are asked to
bring their own lunches and dress accordingly.
