Japanese ceramics, local sake and a peek inside a famed potter’s kiln.
The center of the Japanese pottery world, Mashiko has long held a special place in the hearts of ceramics lovers across the country.
Take in the history of the town’s most famous artisan and adopted son, Shoji Hamada, on a guided tour of the Shoji Hamada Memorial Museum.
Then, sample local delicacies at lunch at the Mashikokan Satoyama Resort complete with sake pairings from the local 500-year-old Tonoike Shuzoten brewery.
After lunch, join professional artist Fujiya Sakuma as he opens the doors to his personal kiln and explains the finer points of Mashiko pottery.
Finally, pick up some souvenirs on a local shopping street before touring the Tonoike Shuzoten brewery and heading back to the Club.
With Tokyo's state of emergency no longer in effect, the Club is currently preparing to reopen select venues and services from June 1.
