What will I learn in this class?
Japan’s national spirit is on the menu at this extensive course on the beverage’s history, ingredients, brewing methods and more. The instructor will also lead students through proper ways of selecting nihonshu glassware and recommended food pairings for different varieties.
Students are also encouraged to attend an optional brewery tour and eight-course sake dinner at Kanagawa’s Izumibashi Sake Brewery.
What is the goal of this class?
Gain an appreciation for nihonshu rarely seen outside Japan and learn how to serve it alongside a meal at home like you would any fine wine.
Who teaches this class?
Aya Kodama is a Sake Service Institute-certified kikisake-shi sake sommelier, former Miss Sake Nagano and 2018 runner-up Miss Sake Japan. Kodama appears regularly in sake-centric media and will be teaching lessons in a seasonal kimono.
